Zirkzee: Di Canio urges Juventus to loan Manchester United forward

Former Lazio and West Ham United forward Paolo Di Canio is of the opinion that Juventus should get Joshua Zirkzee on loan during the January transfer window, Afrosport reports.

The Dutch forward of Nigerian heritage joined the Red Devils from Bologna where he won the Serie A Young Player of the Year last season.

He has however not been much of a bright spark after scoring off the bench on his Premier League debut against Fulham and United struggling to get results which has put the entire team under intense scrutiny.

According to reports, Juventus will be looking for a backup option for Dusan Vlahovic as he is the only centre forward in the team at the moment with Arkadiusz Milik out for several weeks after undergoing surgery for a  knee injury

Di Canio wants the Bianconeri to get their hands on Zirkzee as they hope to mount a serious challenge for the Scudetto this season.

“I’d ask Manchester United for Zirkzee’s loan. After all, they [Man United] have been making crazy decisions for years,” he told Tuttosport.

“Nothing works there, not even Zirkzee. He’s too slow for the Premier League. Maybe he’ll prove me wrong with goals and big performances, but in there [EPL], defenders are aggressive, and there are 30% fewer fouls [than in Serie A].

“There’s so much confusion at Man United that they could even give him away on loan. They already have Hojlund and Rashford, who play in that position. He would be an ideal profile and give Motta a player with a different skill sets from Vlahovic. I’d start negotiations now—a loan with an option to buy. Zirkzee is not a deadly finisher; he won’t score 25 goals, but he makes his teammates play well.”

Juventus have done business with Premier League clubs this summer, notably signing Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa while Samuel Iling-Junior went in the opposition and Federico Chiesa was sold to Liverpool.
