Nwakaeme late assist maintains Trabzonspor’s unbeaten Turkish Super Lig start

Anthony Nwakaeme provided a late assist that ensured Trabzonspor maintained their unbeaten start to the Turkish Super Lig season after coming back to draw 2-2 at home with Kayserispor on Thursday, Afrosport reports.

The visitors saw a golden opportunity to take the lead from penalty spot but Ghana’s Joseph Attamah missed in the 10th minute.

Kayserispor were however not going to denied two minutes later when Hassan Ali Kaldirim put them ahead. It became 2-0 in the 63rd minute thanks to Aylton Filipe Boa Morte.

Poyraz Yildirim thought he had pulled one back for Trabzonspor in the 68th minute but it was ruled out for offside.

Kayserispor were reduced to 10 men after Gokhan Sazdagi was given a second yellow card in the 87th minute.

This allowed Trabzonspor to find their way back into the game which began with substitute Umut Bozok’s effort in the 89th minute before substitute Nwakaeme found Stefano Denswil in the eighth minute of add time to make it 2-2.


It was the Nigerian striker’s first goal involvement on his second return to the club having previously been on their books between 2018 and 2022, scoring 47 goals and providing 40 assists in 150 competitive outings.

Trabzonspor remain unbeaten after three Turkish Super Lig but are without a win by recording three consecutive draws.
