Adrien Rabiot: French midfielder completes move to Ligue 1 club Marseille

Ligue 1 club Marseille have completed the signing of French midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a free transfer, the club announced on Tuesday.

The 29-year-old, who departed Juventus this summer following the expiration of his contract with the Old Lady, returns to France, where he has previously played for Toulouse and Paris Saint-Germain, where he won six league titles.

Rabiot had already reached an “agreement in principle” with Marseille, coached by Italian Roberto de Zerbi. However, details of the deal are yet to be made public with the midfielder believed to have signed a two-year deal with the club.

The club announced the Frenchman’s signing in a statement on their website, which read: “Olympique de Marseille are delighted to announce the signing of Adrien Rabiot. The 29-year-old midfielder has signed a new contract with the club after passing his medical.”

The box-to-box midfielder player with Juventus for five years, winning the 2020 Serie A title and two Italian Cups.

Rabiot, who played five matches for France before their semifinal exit at the European Championship, has 48 caps for Les Bleus and was part of the team that finished as runners-up behind Argentina at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Marseille are currently unbeaten in Ligue 1 with three wins and one draw from four games, sitting two points behind PSG at the top of the standings.

Rabiot could make his debut for Marseille this Sunday when they visit the Groupama Stadium for the Derby des Olympique against rivals Lyon.
