AFCON 2025 Qualifiers: Benin Republic Arrive Uyo for Super Eagles test

The Players and staff of Benin Republic touched down in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, on Thursday, ahead of their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations Group D opener against Nigeria, Afrosport reports.

The Cheetahs will battle the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium on Saturday, September 7, with the winner of the match set to go atop the group following a 1-1 between Rwanda and Libya.

Benin, coached by former Eagles boss Gernot Rohr, recently recorded a 2-1 win over Nigeria in the qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup in June in Abidjan.

The Cheetahs reportedly landed at the Victor Attah Airport in the evening around 8 p.m. local time before heading to their hotel.

After Saturday’s crucial opener against Nigeria, they will head to Abidjan to take on the Mediterranean Knights of Libya at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny in their second Group D game on Tuesday, September 10.
