Odion Ighalo: Nigerian forward scores as Al-Wehda beat Al-Orobah in Saudi Pro League

Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo scored the opener for Al-Wehda in a 2-1 win over Al-Orobah in their Saudi Pro League encounter on Wednesday.

The 35-year-old prolific forward got the home side in front in the first minute of action inside the King Abdul Aziz Stadium in Mecca, tapping home from close range after he was teed up by Moroccan forward Mohamed Al Makahasi.

The visitors levelled the tie in the 33rd minute through Saudi Arabian defender Ziyad Al-Hunaiti, who was assisted by former Burnley winger Johann Berg Guðmundsson.

Ighalo, who opened his league account for the season, was replaced by Mourad Mohammed Abdullah Khodari in the 57th minute after the team returned for second half action.

The substitute Khodari, scored the winner for Al-Wehda, three minutes into stoppage time, finishing off a well timed pass from Romanian midfielder Alexandru Crețu.

The match finished in favour of the home team, and Ighalo was named Man of the Match at the end as they registered their first win of the season and remain unbeaten in the opening two games.

Al-Wehda, currently fifth in the Saudi Pro League standings, will visit the King Abdullah Sport City Stadium in Jeddah to take on Al-Ittihad in their next league match on Sunday, September 15, after the international break.
