Super Eagles duo Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey playfully interrupted Emile Smith-Rowe when he was being interviewed in the aftermath of Fulham’s 2-1 loss to Sevilla in a pre-season friendly on Monday night, Afrosport reports.
The Former Arsenal midfielder scored on his debut for the Cottagers in the 52nd minute as a second half substitute after Issac Romero put Sevilla 2-0 up in the first half.
Smith-Rowe ended his 14-year association with the Gunners to complete a £34 million move to Craven Cottage, a club record transfer for Fulham.
The 24-year old was being interviewed by the Fulham in-house media in a video posted on X where Iwobi and Bassey disrupted the session by pushing him away the camera in a playful manner, with Smith-Rowe calling both of them “jokers”.
Iwobi, who was previously on the books of Arsenal took over the interview duties, asking his reunited teammate how the game went. Smith-Rowe replied: “The game went well. In the second half, we made a difference. Obviously, disappointed with the result but we build on this.”
Iwobi then asked Smith-Rowe what he thought about his new teammates at Fulham, to which he responded: “I love my new teammates. I’ve settled in really well. I already feel comfortable around them so we are good.”
Iwobi then quizzed Smith-Rowe if his fitness looks promising having battled with injuries during his six-year stint as an Arsenal senior player. He replied: I’m sure you can see I was very tired out there but I’ll keep building, keep training.”
Bassey asked his own question after which the three players shook hands, laughed and walked away.
