Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara made cash donations worth N160 million as part of efforts to reward state athletes who excelled recently in national and international tournaments.
The governor stated the gesture was not about the money doled out but appreciating the athletes who showed genuine love for the state in their victorious outing at sporting events held.
Also today, I received a group of talented athletes of our dear state who had emerged victorious and returned with diverse trophies and medals in various areas of sports. I used the occasion to praise their sportsmanship and to encourage them to keep aiming high. pic.twitter.com/j32EeqxFwn
