Ons Jabeur moved into the 2024 Wimbledon third round after a straight sets 6-1, 7-5 win over American teenager Robin Montgomery on Thursday.
The Tunisian star defeated Japan’s Moyuka Uchijma in straight sets (6-3, 6-1) in the first round and had little trouble in the first set against her second round 19-year-old American opponent.
Though Montgomery broke Jabeur in the third game of the first set after an earlier break of hers, the 2023 Wimbledon finalist hit back in the fourth and sixth game to take the set in 30 minutes.
The second and final set saw both players hold serve until the 11th game when Jabeur broke and held serve in the next game to win the match in one hour and 10 minutes.
