FA Cup final: Guardiola eyes back-to-back domestic double with Man City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has his eyes on winning back-to-back domestic doubles as the Citizens prepare to take on rivals Manchester United in the FA Cup final on Saturday.

The men in sky Blue faced their cross town rivals in last year’s final at Wembley, winning 2-1 on their way to an historic treble.

There is no chance of a treble this season but a domestic double after winning the Premier League for a record fourth consecutive time.

“We play FA Cup [and] we can do back-to-back doubles. We have [a] chance to do this,” Guardiola said ahead of the game.

“The FA Cup for itself is FA Cup, Wembley, all our fans going to London. It’s the last game of the season, last effort.

“We travel, everyone. I’m impressed how good we have trained after a few days off. [They’re] so focused, everyone wants to be involved. We will do our best for sure.”

Guardiola further added: “lt’s football, it’s never happened before in our history [repeat derby finals] and two years, two times in a row.

“We respect United, always like that for their history. In the last decade we have been better but in terms of history, of course, you have to respect them massively.

“What they feel like, I don’t know. I’m not there.

Man City will be attempting to win the FA Cup for the eighth time in their history and third under Guardiola.
