Nigeria won yet another set of medals in both the men’s and women’s 4x400m relay final at the ongoing 13th African Games in Accra, Ghana on Friday.
The quartet of Esther Elo Joseph, Patience Okon-George, Brittany Ogunmokun, and Omolara Ogunmakinju cruised to yet another gold medal for the nation in the women’s 4x400m relay final at the UGH Legon Stadium.
The team clocked a time of 3:27.29 as they stormed into the first position with a sizeable lead over the rest of the field.

Zambia finished in second place to take the silver medal with a new National Record of 3:31.85, while Botswana ran a time of 3:33.44 to take the bronze medal.
Shortly after in the men’s event, Nigeria settled for a third place finish as they claimed the Bronze medal with a time of 3:01.84.
Emmanuel Ojeli, Samson Nathaniel, Adeyemi Sikiru and Chidi Okezie, who won the gold medal in the 400m event, all made history as they clocked the fastest time ran by a Nigerian team in two decades.

The Nigerian quartet lost to Zambia, whose 2:59.12 time set a new Games record, as they won the gold medal.
The Zambians pipped Botswana to the title with the South African nation running a time of 2:59.32 to settle for the silver medal.
