Osimhen: Cancelo rates Nigerian striker as one of the best in the world

Barcelona full-back Joao Cancelo has rated Victor Osimhen as one of the best strikers in the world ahead of the Blaugrana’s UEFA Champions League second-leg clash with Napoli at Estadi Olimpic de Montjuic on Tuesday.

Both sides played out a 1-1 draw in the first leg at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona three weeks ago, Robert Lewandoski giving the Catalan giants the lead on the hour mark before Osimhen equalised 15 minutes later.

It leaves the tie very open and Cancelo did not stop short of praising the talent of Napoli’s players such as Matteo Politano, Piotr Zielinski, and Stanislav Lobotka.

“…They are exceptional talents, Osimhen scored for us in the first leg with half the ball, he is one of the best strikers in the world. But there’s more: I like Zielinski who can’t play because he’s not on the list, and Lobotka, I faced him with Portugal and he is a great player,” the Manchester City loanee said.

Cancelo also added on Napoli’s current struggles similar to Barcelona’s: “Football is a strange sport. Theirs [Napoli] is also a difficult year. They win the scudetto playing in a spectacular way, they have to change coaches, they choose, and it’s not good. They change, and it’s not good, so they change again. It happens. You try, in good faith, and it doesn’t work. And at Napoli, the pressure of winning is the same as ours at Barcelona.”

Barcelona will be looking to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for the first time since the 2019-20 season while Napoli will hope to make it back-to-back appearances.
