UCL: Kane matches  Drogba’s record in Bayern Munich’s comeback win

Harry Kane was the catalyst as he scored a brace to hand Bayern Munich a 3-0 win over Lazio in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League round of 16 on Tuesday night.

The Bavarians lost the first leg in Rome 1-0 but had no problems thanks to Kane and the other goal being scored by German veteran Thomas Mueller.

Kane’s brace took him to 51 goals in Europe which saw him surpass Chelsea legend Didier Drogba. The Ivory Coast icon scored 50 European goals in spells with Olympique Marseille (11) and the Chelsea (39).

Kane also became the first British player to reach 50 European goals, with Steven Gerrard (41) and Wayne Rooney (40) following the former Tottenham Hotspur forward on the list.

The 30-year-old also became the first player to reach 40+ goal involvements (33 goals, eight assists) across all competitions in Europe’s top seven leagues this season.

Kane now has 27 goals in the Champions League alone and is just four goals away from surpassing Wayne Rooney’s tally as the highest scoring Englishman in the premier competition.

He will now turn his attention to the Bundesliga where he leads the scorer’s charts with 27 goals.

Bayern will next tackle Mainz on Saturday with the hope of closing in on their 10-point deficit to current leaders Bayer Leverkusen.
