Senegal’s Niang unharmed after accident in Empoli

M’Baye Niang was unharmed after he was involved in a car accident in Empoli on Tuesday.

The Senegal forward, who joined Empoli from Turkish outfit Adana Demirspor during the January transfer window, crashed his car on his way for early morning Islamic prayers and collided into some parked cars.

He however came out unscathed and was able to carry out his duties with the team for the day after undergoing medical tests as narrated by Empoli sporting director Pietro Accardi via Calcio Mercato.

“I would like to point out that our player M’Baye Niang promptly warned us of the misadventure that occurred this morning,” Pietro stated.

“As a club we are aware that, since his arrival in Empoli, the boy usually goes out early in the morning and joins prayer groups with other practitioners of his religion [Islam].

“The footballer, on returning home due to carelessness, collided with some parked cars. M’Baye is fine, all the tests carried out as per practice by the competent authorities gave completely negative results.”

Niang has made two appearances for Empoli, scoring a goal in each of them.

It is the 29-year-old’s fourth stint in Italy having previously featured for AC Milan, Genoa and Torino.
