DR Congo overcame Guinea 3-1 in Friday night’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations quarter-final at the Stade Alassane Ouattara to move into the last four.
The Leopards knocked out record AFCON champions Egypt in the previous round while the National Elephants knocked out the impressive Equatorial Guinea.
Goalscoring has not been a problem for either side in the Ivory Coast and it was the Guineans that took the lead in the 20th minute when Mohamed Bayo converted from the penalty spot for his third goal in the competition.
It did not take too long for the Congolese to level matters as Chancel Mbemba, who caused the earlier penalty, atonned for his error with a close range finish off a corner kick in the 27th minute.
Sebastien Desabre’s men went ahead in the 65th minute courtesy of Yoane Wissa’s penalty before former West Ham defender Arthur Masuaku made it 3-1 by netting a sublime finish with eight minutes left on the clock.
Now, that's how you get the job done! The Leopards triumph and cruise to the SEMIFINALS
