Ademola Lookman stood out for Jose Peseiro’s team at the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium with his goal in each half of the encounter.
Nigeria dominated proceedings as Cameroon struggled to mark an impact with no shot on target in 90 minutes.
President Tinubu watched the game during his private visit in Paris as he immediately jumped on an Instagram Live of the Super Eagles to send his best wishes to the team in Abidjan.
He wrote in the video: “Congratulations Super Eagles. I am proud of you all.”
Nigeria will continue their charge for a fourth AFCON title in Ivory Coast when they face Angola in the quarter-final on Friday, February 2.
