Burkina Faso have been handed fresh worries ahead of the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) as star forward Dango Outtara picked up an injury on Sunday in the Premier League.
The 21-year-old was replaced by English defender Max Aarons at halftime after picking up a knock in the first half of the clash between Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth.

Outtara, who has been selected as part of the Stallions’ final 27-man squad for the AFCON in Ivory Coast and is expected to join up with the rest of the team in Abu Dhabi, is now a doubt for the tournament, which kicks off in about two weeks.
Though Burkina Faso will be waiting for Bournemouth’s official medical update, head coach Hubert Velud will be anxious over the fitness of one of his trusted forwards, with Outtara boasting seven goals in 17 appearances for the national side.
As part of their preparations for the AFCON, the Stallions are set for a friendly match against Iran on January 5.
Burkina Faso are in Group D, where they will face 2019 winners Algeria, Mauritania, and Angola. They hope to go beyond the semifinals of the tournament, as they have done in three of their last four outings.
