Ivory Coast recorded the biggest result of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers so far with a 9-0 bashing of Seychelles in Group F on Friday evening.
Borussia Dortmund forward Sebastien Haller kicked things off in Abidjan from the penalty spot in the 20th minute before Nottingham Forest’s Ibrahim Sangare made it 2-0 four minutes later.
Brighton’s Simon Adingra was the next to record his name on the scoresheet followed by Karim Konate with the second spot kick of the evening four minutes to the halftime break.
Konate then turned provider for Al Nassr’s Seko Fofona to score the fourth goal on the hour mark before the next three goals came from substitutes Hamed Traore (brace) and Jean-Philippe Krasso (penalty) before Konate wrapped things up in added time.
Other high-scoring results on Friday saw Tunisia thump Sao Tome and Principe 4-0 while Mali defeated Chad 3-1. Cameroon were 3-0 winners over Mauritius, Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo among the goalscorers. Leicester City’s Patson Daka also netted a brace as Zambia defeated Congo 4-2. The same scoreline was recorded in Comoros’ victory over the Central African Republic.
In the low-scoring results, Athletic Bilbao star Inaki Williams scored his first goal for Ghana in their 1-0 win over Madagascar in Kumasi. That was also the same result for Libya and Malawi against Eswatini and Liberia respectively.
