Real Madrid confirm Camavinga injury status

Real Madrid have confirmed that midfielder Eduardo Camavinga will be on the sidelines after sustaining a knee ligament injury while on international duty with the France national team.

The 21-year-old came off in discomfort after a collision with Ousmane Dembele during a training session with Les Bleus which forced him to withdraw from the squad ahead of their Euro 2024 qualifiers against Gibraltar and Greece.

Camavinga returned to Madrid for further assessment where it was confirmed that he suffered a complete rupture of the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. Real Madrid however did not put a timeframe on his recovery.

“Following tests carried out today on our player Eduardo Camavinga by the Real Madrid medical services, it has been diagnosed that he has torn the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee. Further developments are awaited,” read a statement on the club website.

Camavinga grows Madrid’s injury list to six players with Aurelien Tchouameni, Eder Militao, Thibaut Courtois, Kepa Arrizabalaga and Arda Guler all currently sidelined.
