NBA: Curry, Kuminga star in Warriors preseason win over Kings

Two-time MVP Stephen Curry and Congolese youngstar Jonathan Kuminga both stole the show as the Golden State Warriors beat the Sacramento Kings 116-115 at Chase Center on Wednesday night.

Curry, who was back on the team after sitting out the first game of the double-header against the Kings, scored 30 points in 31 minutes, while Kuminga continued his impressive preseason run with 18 points and six rebounds in 29 minutes.

Curry shot 8-of-12 from the 3-point line and 10-of-18 from the field, while Kuminga shot 50% from the floor, converting 7 of his 14 field attempts.

Andrew Wiggins scored 16 points for the Warriors; rookie Trayce Jackson-Davis finished with a 13-point and 10-rebound double-double; and veteran guard Chris Paul supplied them with 13 points, nine assists, and six rebounds off the bench.

De’Aaron Fox scored a team-high 25 points and grabbed seven boards for the Kings, while Keegan Murray, who is heading into his sophomore year with the franchise, added 24 points, 8 rebounds, and scored three 3-pointers.

Domantas Sabonis had a near triple-double performance with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists, while Kevin Huerter added 12 points.

The Warriors improved to a 4-0 record in preseason and will face the San Antonio Spurs next Friday night before their 2023–24 NBA season opener at home against the Phoenix Suns.

Mike Brown’s Kings team, on the other hand, have lost all four of their games in preseason and will face the Utah Jazz next at the Golden 1 Center on Thursday night before suiting up against the same side at the Vivint Smart Home Arena in Utah next week for their season opener.
