Leicester City boss Enzo Maresca has appreciated the contribution of Kelechi Iheanacho after scoring from the penalty spot in their 4-1 win over Blackburn Rovers on Sunday which saw them consolidate their early lead in the Championship.
Asides from the Nigerian who scored for the second time in the league this season, Jamie Vardy was also on target with the assist coming from another Nigerian in Wilfred Ndidi while Wout Faes and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall were the other goalscorers.
It was Leicester’s eighth league win from nine Championship games this session which puts them two points clear of Ipswich Town at the top of the log.

“We expect this from Jamie, so I’m not surprised,” Maresca told the club website. “I’m happy for Kel as well because the strikers scored. I’m happy for Kiernan also scoring. It was a complete performance.
“We tried to score since we started the game. Sometimes it happens at the beginning, sometimes it happens at the end, but in the first 10 to 15 minutes of the second half we dropped off a lot, but then for 25 minutes we came back and we were very good. It’s important to score a goal and in this game the opponent was very tough so it’s even more important.”
Leicester will be involved in midweek Championship action when they take on Preston North End at the King Power Stadium on Wednesday night.
