Postecoglou pleased with how Tottenham have moved on without Kane

Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglu is pleased with how his team have coped without Harry Kane.

The 30-year-old Englishman ended his 19-year association with the Lilywhites after moving to Bayern Munich this summer.

There were concerns on how Spurs would cope without the talisman who is the club’s all-time top scorer with 280 goals in 485 games. Tottenham have however moved on well with an unbeaten start to the season, dropping points just once and currently sit in second on the table, two points behind leaders Manchester City.

Despite the progress, Postecoglou acknowledged the club are still looking for a worth replacement for Kane.

“There is a risk of feeling that void from the start, that’s the reality,” the Australian tactician said ahead of the North London derby with Arsenal.

“It’s a fairly significant figure on and off the field. We tried to, as a collective, focus on the road ahead and the team we want to be.

“I’ve been pleased with how the lads have tackled the task of trying to be an attacking threat from all areas so people don’t see a glaring gap, but we’re still trying to replace arguably the greatest player this club has ever seen.

“We’ve managed it well so far.”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta also acknowledged that Tottenham moved on well without Harry Kane but are still keen to make life difficult for them in Sunday’s derby.

“They have many other qualities and many other players who can make a difference in the game,” Arteta stated.

“It’s a big change but they have adapted well without him. He was a special player and everything went through him. He glued everything together in many areas of the pitch.

“Now it’s different. They have some movement with certain players who are different.

“We are just focused on the team we face and trying to play the best way to cause problems.”

Arsenal like Tottenham are also on 13 points but sit in fourth place by virtue of an inferior goal difference.
