Inaki Williams scored his second La Liga goal of the season as Athletic Bilbao defeated Cadiz 3-0 in Saturday’s early kick off.
The Ghanaian was involved in international duty with the Black Stars, playing 68 minutes of their final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Central African Republic which ended in a 2-1 win and sealed the West African giants spot in the group stage in neighbouring Ivory Coast next January.
Athletic meanwhile were held to a goalless draw at Mallorca before the international break and needed to get back to winning wins.
After a goalless 45 minutes at San Mames, the Basque giants went ahead against Cadiz in the 66th minute when Oscar de Marcos’ cross found Gorka Guruzeta to head home. It was 2-0 just two minutes later with Williams’ run in the box down the right flank finding Asier Villalibre to score from close range.

Williams completed the scoring in the 90th minute, Villalibre returning the favour this time by nodding to ball into the Ghanaian’s path for a low finish into the bottom right corner of the net.
The victory was Bilbao’s third out of five games which moves them up to second behind leaders Real Madrid who host Athletic’s Basque rivals Real Sociedad on Sunday.
