Amrabat: Morocco midfielder reveals Ten Hag impact on his career

Sofyan Amrabat has revealed the impact Manchester United manger Erik ten Hag has had on his career.

The Morocco midfielder is a new signing at Old Trafford having completed a transfer deadline day loan move from Fiorentina.

The 27-year-old 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-finalist will reunite with Ten Hag who managed him at Dutch Eredivisie side Utrecht between 2015 and 2017. Amrabat was a regular under Ten Hag, making 50 competitive appearances in two seasons, and considers the former Ajax boss an integral part of his career and says is ready to embrace a winning mentality at Old Trafford.

“It was very important because I was very young,” Amrabat told the Man United website.

“I was 18, 19 years old and he gave me the chance to play in the first team with Utrecht.

“We had a fantastic time, a really good season. I learned a lot from him.

“So maybe he’s one of the most important people in my career for now.

It’s fantastic because I think Erik ten Hag is a coach who will push always to the limit.

“He’s hungry. He wants to win. He’s a winner and I like that. I think I’m also similar, I’m also a winner. I want to win every day so it’s a good match.”

Amrabat added on what he wound bring into the United squad: “I don’t like to speak about myself. I want to show it on the pitch, but I can promise that I will give my best with everything; every day, every minute, every second. So, it is the only thing that I can say now.”

Amrabat was unveiled with the number 4 jersey on Wednesday and could be in line to make his debut against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford next Saturday after the conclusion of the international break.
