Sir Lewis Hamilton says he could not be any happier after finally signing a contract extension with Mercedes.
The seven-time world champion’s future with the German manufacturer had been hanging in the air as his previous contract was due to expire at the end of 2023.
The British driver has now extended his deal until 2025 along with his teammate George Russell and stated he would not be in any other place other than the Brackley outfit.
“I couldn’t be happier to be extended with this team. We’ve had such an incredible journey together. Mercedes have supported me since I was 13,” Hamilton explained.
“So, such a long trip. We still have unfinished business. So, we are in this together. We’ve got a lot of work to do to get ourselves back to the front. But there’s no place I would rather be.”
Hamilton is currently in Monza where the Italian Grand Prix is taking place this weekend.
He currently sits in fourth place in the driver’s championship but is a mammoth 183 points behind leader and former championship rival Max Verstappen.
