Semi Ajayi scored his first goal of the 2023-24 Championship season as West Bromwich Albion defeated Swansea City 3-2 at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon.
The Baggies opened their season with a 2-1 defeat at Blackburn Rovers last weekend before losing by the same scoreline to Stoke City in the first round of the EFL Cup in midweek.
Ajayi however gave them the lead in the 18th minute when he volleyed in from six yards after Conor Townsend nodded the ball into his path from a Darnell Furlong throw-in. It remained that way until the 50th minute when Carl Rushworth put the ball into his own net to give West Brom a 2-0 lead.
John Swift made it 3-0 in the 64th minute from the penalty spot before Swansea tried to stage a comeback with Nathan Wood netting a brace in the space of five minutes but that was the best the South Wales outfit could do.

Ajayi played for the entire 90 minutes and will look to be in the action once again when West Brom travel to Leeds United next Friday.
