With the FIFA Women’s World Cup edging ever closer, Brazil took on China in their final preparatory game for the tournament.
The Canarinhas cruised to a comfortable 3-0 win at the Royal Pines field in Gold Coast, Australia, on Thursday to improve their record to three straight wins following victories over Germany and Chile.
The match which was played in three halves of 30 minutes, saw goals from midfielder Luana Paixao, Real Madrid CF defender Kathellen Sousa and former Arsenal women’s midfielder Rafaelle Souza propel the South Americans to victory.
After the game, centre back Lauren Costa, who will be participating in her first Women’s World Cup, revealed the friendly game was important in helping the team get into the “right rhythm”
“It is very important to be playing, to be in a very competitive environment,” she said. “The game was good, there’s a lot to see and improve.
“I believe that after we watch the game and analyze everything, we will see the points that need improvement. I think there’s a lot of room for improvement,” said Lauren.”
Pia Sundhage’s side are drawn in Group F alongside France, Jamaica, and debutants Panama, while China will take on Denmark, Haiti, and pre-tournament favourites England in Group D when the tournament kicks off in Australia and New Zealand on July 20.
