Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur continues to power on as Africa’s only hope in the ongoing Wimbledon tournament as she makes her way to the last eight after straight sets win over Czech’s Petra Kvitova.
Jabeur, a finalist in the tournament last year, saw off two-time Wimbledon winner Kvitova 6-0, 6-3 in a dominant display on Center Court on Monday afternoon to progress to her third straight quarterfinal appearance.

The world No. 6 needed just an hour and three minutes to see off her Czech opponent to seal just her second win in their six encounters. She hit 17 winners, won 82 percent of her first service points and took six of her seven break points to cap a brilliant performance in front of a well-packed crowd.
“Great, great match,” Jabeur said, after her win. “I’m very happy with the performance. Hopefully I can keep going in this level.
“Winning also 6-0 against someone like Petra, you can expect to be beaten 6-0 the next set, so I tried to tell myself that the match is starting in the second set. Kept going. Tried to play point by point. Honestly, it was going very well for me,” the African No. 1 said.

She sets up a quarterfinal match against world No. 3 Elena Rybakina in a rematch of last year’s final which the latter won.
In the other fourth round tie, America’s Madison Keys needed 2 hours and 2 minutes to complete a 3-6, 7-6(4), 6-2 comeback victory over unseeded Mirra Andreeva, ending the fairytale run in the tournament.
Keys, who extended her winning streak to nine matches in a row, booked a spot in her ninth major quarterfinal, but just her second at Wimbledon and her first since 2015.
