WAFCON 2024 Qualifiers: Super Falcons to face Sao Tome, Algeria to battle Uganda

The qualification draw for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations was conducted in Morocco on Thursday with teams across the continent set to battle for 11 spots available.

Defending champions South Africa and third-place team at WAFCON 2022, Zambia will join the qualification in the second round.

Meanwhile, host country for the next year’s tournament Morocco are exempted from the qualifiers and automatically get a spot in the tournament finals.

The first hurdle for 11-time African champions, Nigeria is a game against Sao Tome and Principe who have only played six international matches in women’s football.

Teranga Lionesses of Senegal will face Mozambique, South Sudan to play Egypt while the Democratic Republic of Congo will face Benin and the winner will play either Equatorial Guinea or Libya in the second round of qualifiers.

Cameroon have a date with Kenya and the winner of the game will face either Gabon or Botswana in the second round. Congo and Guinea-Bissau will face each other before the winner sets up a second-round fixture with the victor of the match between Tunisia and Niger.
