Nigeria’s Boniface nominated for Player of the Season award in Belgium

Nigerian forward Victor Boniface has been nominated for the Belgian Pro League Player of the Season Award for the 2022-23 season.

The 22-year-old has been in good form for Union Saint Gilloise, with 9 goals and eight assists in 36 games this campaign.

Boniface is one of three finalists shortlisted for the award, alongside teammate Teddy Teuma and Genk’s attacking midfielder of Burundi descent, Mike Tresor Ndayishimiye.

This is the second award the former Bodo/Glimt striker has been nominated for this season after coming second in the Best African Player award category.

Boniface will be looking to become the first Nigerian to take home the award after Paul Onuachu did the same in the 2020–21 season.

The winner of the accolade will be determined by votes from all Belgian Pro League players and Belgian players from other top leagues across the globe.
