West Ham United manager David Moyes has heaped praise on Said Benrahma after he scored from the penalty spot in the Hammers’ comeback 2-1 win over AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa Conference League first leg on Thursday.
The London outfit fell behind to a Tijjani Reijnders effort in the 41st minute before Benrahma equalised from the spot in the 67th minute and Michail Antonio with the winner nine minutes later.
Benrahma’s penalty was the fifth he has successfully converted this season. While Moyes is happy with the Algeria international’s goal conversation from 18 yards, the Scottish tactician wants to see more open goals from him.
“I am pleased Saïd [is scoring his penalties regularly],” Moyes said.
“But he missed a great chance to make it 3-1 in open play, which is what I wanted. He has got the penalties but we need more goals from him from open play – and he missed a big chance tonight.
“But I have to say, we are grateful for his penalty kicks at the moment because it looks as if he is meaning it and he is rattling them in at speed too.”
