Following Victor Osimhen’s heroics in securing Napoli’s first Serie A crown since 1990, social media was awash with reactions after a post by the league authorities.
The Serie A English account on Twitter shared a design of late Napoli legend Diego Maradona crowning Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as the new king of Napoli.
Majority of fans including Nigerians dismissed the coronation design by making a case for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen who scored a crucial equaliser that sealed Napoli’s third Serie A title and also referenced his dominance as the league’s top scorer with 22 goals this season.
A section of the reactions described the post as racist for not acknowledging Osimhen’s impact in Luciano Spalletti’s team, then some creatives came up with a replica design to adore the Nigeria international.
