Six countries declare interest to host AFCON 2027

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has received declaration of interest from six countries to bid for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations hosting rights.

Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania submitted a joint bid for East Africa while Algeria, Botswana and Egypt are single hosts.

The next stage in the hunt for the host is the submission of the final bid by interested countries on/before May 23. The final bid will include hosting agreement, host cities, agreement and government guarantees.

It will be followed by inspection visits with the CAF team set from June 1 to July 15, 2023.

The 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON 2023) will take place in the Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

In September 2022, Guinea were stripped of hosting AFCON 2025 due to slow progress in their preparations.

CAF is currently reviewing bids from Algeria, Morocco, Zambia and a joint-bid from Nigeria and Benin, with a new host to be announced before September 2023 by CAF Executive Committee.
