Arsenal will shift their focus solely on the Premier League after their exit from the UEFA Europa League on Thursday following their defeat to Sporting Lisbon on penalties after the game ended 3-3 on aggregate.
The Premier League thus remains the Gunners only chance at silverware this season, and they will look to get the needed victory when Crystal Palace visits the Emirates on Sunday.
The Eagles fired Patrick Vieira from his position as manager on Friday as a result of a bad run of results in which they been without a win in their previous 11 league games. Arsenal will also have the chance to go eight points clear of Manchester City, who will be in action against Championship leaders Burnley in the quarterfinals of the FA Cup.
The first fixture of the weekend, however, begins on Friday when Nottingham Forest welcome Newcastle United to the City Ground. The Magpies recorded their first league win in five games with a 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers last weekend. Another one against Forest will get them close to fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur, who travel to struggling Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
Other Saturday afternoon fixtures will see Aston Villa host Bournemouth, Brentford take on Leicester City, and Wolves battle it out with Leeds United at the Molineux. The late kickoff game will see Chelsea hoping to bag a third league win in a row against Everton at Stamford Bridge.
