Leicester City forward Kelechi Iheanacho has termed the Foxes’ FA Cup fifth round loss to Blackburn Rovers as “a difficult one to accept”.
The East Midlands club had the advantage of playing in front of their fans at the King Power Stadium but fell behind to goals in either half by Tyrhys Dolan and Sammie Szmodics before Iheanacho halved the deficit in the 67th minute after being assisted by Harvey Barnes.
Iheanacho’s goal was his third consecutive FA Cup goal this season and his 18th in the competition which is the most of any player since he netted his first seven years ago. The 26-year-old was disappointed about Tuesday’s loss and wants to turn his attention to the Premier League.
“It’s so disappointing, especially at home,” the Nigeria international said on the club website. “It wasn’t good enough. If you don’t do what you need to do, you get punished. Obviously, that’s gone now, we need to look forward to the Premier League, but we need to do more.”
“It was a good ball from Barnsey (Harvey Barnes), on the flank, taking it well and working the man, cutting it back,” he explained. “It was the right cross at the right time. Hopefully there’s more to come, but we’re out of the competition now.
“It’s a tough one to take. As I said, we need to do more, to stay in the league and get up there.”

Leicester are currently in 14th place in the Premier League but are just three points away from the relegation zone after a difficult season where they have lost 14 out of 24 matches.
They make a trip to bottom club Southampton on Saturday.
