Kingsley Coman was the difference as Bayern Munich sealed a 1-0 win against Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 on Tuesday.
The Bavarians topped Group C with a 100% record ahead of Inter Milan, Barcelona and Viktoria Plzen while PSG finished runners-up in Group H behind Benfica and ahead of Juventus and Maccabi Haifa.
Bayern were considered slight favourites for Tuesday night’s tie at the Parc des Princes and lived up to the billing as Coman connected with Alphonso Davies’ cross in the 57th minute to finish off the rest in fine fashion, with the Frenchman muting his goal celebration out of respect to his former employer.
PSG thought they had equalised with eight minutes left of regular time but Kylian Mbappe’s effort was ruled out for offside.
Bayern had a nervy moment after France full-back Benjamin Pavard was sent off in added time for a second bookable offence.

The result means Bayern hold a slender lead ahead of the second-leg clash at the Allianz Arena on March 8.
