Martinelli signs new Arsenal contract

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has put pen to paper a new deal that will see him committed to the Gunners until 2027 with the option of a further year.

The Brazil international – who had a year left on his existing contract – has been an integral part of the Gunners this season, scoring seven goals and providing two assists in the Premier League, with the North London outfit sitting at the summit of the log.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is delighted Martinelli has committed his future at the Emirates Stadium which gives the Spaniard tactics the opportunity to keep working on the 21-year-old’s development.

“We’re delighted Gabi has signed a new long-term contract. Our supporters see his quality and energy every single time he puts on the shirt and he’s the same every day in training, with his hard work and positive values,” Martinelli said on the club website.

“Gabi is still very young, so we know there’s still much more to come from him and it’s great that we’ll be on this journey together. We’re now excited to continue to develop his huge talent and look forward to seeing him perform with Arsenal in the years to come.”

Martinelli stated he loves Arsenal is ready to give his 100 percent for the club he has featured 111 times for, scoring 25 goals and providing 16 assists.

“I feel amazing, I’m really happy in getting the new contract,” the former Ituano player said.

“I want to do my best for the team and for the fans as well, to give back to them and make them proud.

“I’ve said it many times, I love everything about Arsenal.

“I love the city, I love my teammates, I love the fans, I love the club and I’m going to try my best for this football club.”

Focus will now shift on renewing the contracts of other key players in Bukayo Saka and William Saliba, who also have a year left to run on their current deals.

Arsenal prepare to face relegation-threatened Everton at Goodison Park this weekend, with the hope of extending their five-point lead over Manchester City.
