Lampard breaks silence after Everton sack

Former Everton manager Frank Lampard has released a statement for the first time since he was sacked as the Toffees manager earlier this week.

The 44-year-old took up coaching role at the Goodison Park in January 2022 and he commenced a rebuild by helping the club avoid relegation.

However, the former Chelsea coach was shown the door following a string of poor results with Everton in 19th place after amassing just 15 points from 20 Premier League games.

Lampard has now taken to social media to admit the difficulty he faced at Everton, but he thanked everyone involved in his team for the time he spent there.

The post read: Coming into Everton last year I knew we were in a tough moment and I will always be proud of the incredible work and support from everyone involved to keep the team in the Premier League last season. Thanks to everybody that played their part as the whole club came together.”

“I will never forget the incredible night against Palace that we shared. I want to thank all Evertonians for the welcome that you gave to myself, my staff, and my family. It truly is a special club with a huge heart, and an incredible history. I’m disappointed that we couldn’t achieve more together and wish all the players and everyone at Everton FC the very best for the future.”

Under Lampard’s tutelage this season, the Merseyside outfit only managed to win three Premier League games, six draws, 11 losses with 15 goals scored and 28 goals conceded.

They were unable to muster a win in their last eight league games, which ended in six losses and two draws.

They also exited the Carabao Cup in the third round after an embarrassing 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth, and then also lost 3-1 in the third round of the FA Cup to Manchester United.
