BAL unveil basketball court in Cameroon

The Basketball Africa League (BAL) unveiled a renovated court at the Noah Country Club in the Cameroonian capital city of Yaounde on Sunday.

The renovation is a collaboration between the BAL and the Noah’s Arc Foundation, which is part of their commitment to providing safe environments for youth to learn and play basketball.

To kick off the project, NBA Academy Africa Associate Technical Director, Joe Touomou, hosted a youth clinic for 63 boys and girls from Yaounde and a coaches’ clinic that had the participation of 65 local coaches.

BAL President, Amadou Gallo Fall urged youths in Cameroon to use the facility – where life values can be learnt and be of advantage to them.

“I encourage the young players to take advantage of this beautiful space and the opportunity to play the game with one another. The values they learn on the court – teamwork, leadership, and respect – will help them no matter what they choose to do in life,” he said.

The third BAL season will kick off on March 11 Dakar, Senegal and will feature the top 12 clubs from 12 African countries. Games will also be held in the Egyptian capital of Cairo and Rwandan capital, Kigali.

US Monastir of Tunisia are the reigning BAL champions after beating Angolan giants Petro de Luanda 83-72 in the last year’s final in Kigali.
