Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Mykhailo Mudryk from Ukrainian giants Shakhtar Donetsk.
The 22-year-old moves to Stamford Bridge on an eight-and-a-half year deal worth a reported £88.5 million.
The Blues rivals and Premier League leaders Arsenal were interested in signing Mudryk but were let off by the asking price from Shakhtar. Chelsea, however, met the demands and Mudryk has described the new chapter of his career as an “exciting project”.
“I’m so happy to sign for Chelsea,” Mudryk said on the club website.

“This is a huge club, in a fantastic league and it is a very attractive project for me at this stage of my career. I’m excited to meet my new team-mates and I’m looking forward to working and learning under Graham Potter and his staff.”
Mudryk – who will wear the number 15 shirt – put in very impressive displays at Shakhtar this season, scoring 10 goals and providing eight assists in 18 appearances in all competitions.
He becomes the fourth Chelsea signing during the January transfer window following the arrivals of Benoit Badiashile from Monaco, David Datro Fofana from Molde and Andrey Santos from Vasco da Gama.
