Victor Osimhen has stated he feels like a leader in Napoli following their 2-0 win over Sampdoria in Sunday’s Serie A game.
Osimhen opened proceedings at Luigi Ferraris in the 19th minute before Eljif Elmas doubled it eight minutes from time.
The strike took Osimhen to 10 Serie A goals for the season, becoming only the second African after George Weah to hit double digits in three different seasons in the Italian top-flight.
“I’m grateful to Spalletti for his trust and to my teammates for the help they always give me. I feel like a leader, as do all the players who are in this group. We all have to be leaders to achieve great things,” Osimhen said on the club website.
“We wanted to bounce back after the defeat at San Siro and today we picked up a deserved victory.
“I’m happy to have scored but I’m happy above all about the attitude we showed tonight. In Milan we didn’t produce a good performance and we needed to get back on the right track.”
3 – Victor Osimhen has become the second African player to score 10+ goals in three different #SerieA seasons, after George Weah with Milan (1995/96; 1996/97 and 1997/98). Running.#SampNapoli

Napoli face another tricky challenge when they host 36-time champions Juventus at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Friday, and Osimhen is anticipating the tie.
He said: “It will be a good challenge and a great night of football. Two strong teams are facing off, with players that can always make the difference. It will be a spectacular match.”
Sunday’s win gives Napoli a seven-point lead over Juventus at the top of the Serie A standings.
