2026WCQ: Alisson suffers suspected concussion in Brazil win over Colombia

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker suffered a “suspected concussion” after he was substituted in Brazil’s 2-1 win over Colombia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Thursday, Afrosport reports.

The 32-year-old shot-stopper had to go off in the 78th minute after colliding with former Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez as he attempted to clear a cross in the box, and was replaced by Al-Nassr’s Bento.

Brazil’s national team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, after the game, gave an update per CNN Brazil, stating Alisson suffered a head trauma but is in good condition and will undergo further tests.

“Becker suffered a trauma to the head region, he was replaced by a suspected concussion. Now we will do all the CBF protocol, it will undergo recommended imaging tests, a computed tomography, then a resonance with diffusion,” Lasmar said.

“If all the tests are normal, we’ll follow up and do a cognitive test. And then we will evaluate the player. In the possibility that everything is normal, we will make a sequence of observations in the coming days. Today, we will do the tests, all the necessary evaluations.

“Alisson is normal, with no complaints. He reported no fainting and no memory loss. He thought it was a little slower. In this complaint, the recommended is the replacement of the player.”

It is yet to be seen if Alisson will be fit enough for Brazil’s next qualifier away to neighbours and fierce rivals Argentina next Tuesday.

After the international break, his club side Liverpool will be in action against Everton in the Merseyside derby at Anfield on April 2.
