South Africa moved level at the top of Group C in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers after defeating Zimbabwe 3-1 in Bloemfontein on Tuesday.
After a 1-1 draw with the Super Eagles of Nigeria last Friday, Iqraam Rayners and Thapelo Morena’s brace meant that South Africa are now on seven points, same as Rwanda who defeated Lesotho 1-0 in Tuesday’s other game, and Benin who edged past the Nigerians 2-1 earlier on Monday.
The biggest result among Tuesday’s fixtures was in E where Morocco maintained their 100% start with a 6-0 bashing of the Republic of Congo thanks to a hat-trick from Europa Conference League champion Ayoub El Kaabi while the rest were scored by Azzedine Ounahi, Soufiane Rahimi and Chadi Riad. Tanzania sit in second after a massive 1-0 win away in Zambia.
In other results, Gabon moved within one point of Group F leaders Ivory Coast after defeating the Gambia 3-2, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Denis Bouanga among the goalscorers for the Panthers. The Ivorians meanwhile could only play out a goalless draw with Kenya earlier in the day while Burundi thumped Seychelles 3-1 on the road.
Cameroon could not be on the winning side as they played a 1-1 draw away at Angola in Group D but it was all smiles for Cape Verde as they defeated Libya 1-0 and Mauritius got a 2-1 win over Eswatini.
It was all smiles for Comoros as they defeated Chad 2-0 to move level on nine points with Ghana in Group I while Madagascar held firm with 10 men in their goalless draw at home to Mali.
