Senegal moved to the top of Group B in the African 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers with a 1-0 win away at Mauritania on Sunday.
The Teranga Lions only managed to draw 1-1 with DR Congo in their last qualifier but got the needed three points this time thanks to Habib Diallo’s 27th minute effort.
The result put Senegal one point clear of Sudan who face rivals South Sudan on Tuesday and DR Congo who defeated Togo by the same 1-0 scoreline courtesy of Meschack Elia.
Meanwhile, Liberia moved up to third place in Group H after defeating bottom-placed Sao Tome and Principe 1-0 in Oujda thanks to Sheikh Sesay’s 90th minute strike.
The Lone Stars are now three points behind group leaders Tunisia who could only play a goalless draw with second-placed Namibia in Johannesburg.
