2026 WCQ: Norway put 11 goals past Moldova in one-sided encounter in Oslo

Norway were too powerful for Moldova to handle as the Scandinavian side recorded a massive 11-1 win in Group I of the European qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in Oslo on Tuesday, Afrosport reports.

The Norwegians were 5-0 in the first half at the Ullevaal Stadion in Oslo with Felix Myhre kicking things off in the sixth minute before Manchester City star Erling Haaland bagged a hat-trick between the 11th and 43rd minute while captain Martin Odegaard netted the fifth in added time.

There was still more to come in the second half as Haaland scored his fourth in the 52nd minute followed by a hat-trick by Rangers midfielder Thelo Aasgaard.

Haaland netted his fifth goal in the 83rd minute before Aasgaard netted his fourth in stoppage time.

Moldova got their consolation through an own goal from Leo Ostigard to leave them rooted to the bottom of Group I with no points after five games while the Norwegians are on top with 15 points, six clear of Italy and Israel.


In other results, England were in solid form as they defeated Serbia, who finished with 10-men, 5-0 in Belgrade. Harry Kane, Noni Madueke, Ezri Konsa, Marc Guehi and Marcus Rashford were all on the scoresheet as the Three Lions took control of Group K while Albania defeated Latvia 1-0.

In Group D, France defeated Iceland 2-1 with 10 men, Kylian Mbappe scoring and providing an assist while Azerbaijan and Ukraine played out a 1-1 in Baku.

In Group F, Portugal recorded a hard-fought 3-2 win away at Hungary, Cristiano Ronaldo netting the second goal from the penalty spot while Joao Cancelo scored the winner in the 86th minute off an assist from Bernardo Silva.


In Group H, Austria defeated Bosnia & Herzegovina 2-1 in Zenica but ended the game with 10 men after Patrick Wimmer received two yellow cards while Cyprus and Romania played out a 2-2 draw in Nicosia.
