2026 WCQ: Injury rules Thuram out of France’s ties with Azerbaijan and Iceland

Marcus Thuram will miss France’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Iceland after picking up an injury in Inter Milan’s Champions League win over Slavia Prague, Afrosport reports.

Inter stated that Thuram suffered a muscle strain in his left hamstring and will be reassessed next week.

He will this weekend’s Serie A clash against newly-promoted Cremonese and the international break.

France top Group D of the European qualifiers three points clear of Iceland. They will host Azerbaijan at the Parc des Princes on October 10th before travelling to Reykjavik three days later to tackle the Icelanders.

The Nerazzurri in a statement said: “This afternoon, Marcus Thuram underwent tests at the Humanitas Institute in Rozzano.

“They showed a muscle strain in his left hamstring. His condition will be reassessed next week.”

He is expected to return after the break, with Inter hopeful he will be fit for the Serie A trip to AS Roma on October 18th.


Thuram has been a key figure for Christian Chivu’s side this season, with five goals and two assists in seven competitive games.
