Comoros moved within a point of Ghana in Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers after their 2-0 win over Central African Republic in Meknes, Morocco on Sunday, Afrosport reports.
The Coelacanth had suffered a heavy 3-0 loss to Mali in their previous game but it did little trouble as the Black Stars could only manage a 1-1 draw with Chad.
The Comorians were clearly out to get all three points against the Central Africans and were in front when Youssouf M’Changama registered his name on the scoresheet in the 20th minute off an assist from Myziane Maolida.
They doubled their lead at Stade d’Honneur in the 39th minute with Faiz Selemani finding Maolida to put the ball into the back of the net.
Central African Republic had more possession (52%) and total shots (12), however Comoros were able to keep them at bay for their fifth win out of eight games in these qualifiers.
