Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle says his team is ready to take on Rwanda in matchday five in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Afrosport reports.
Chelle will be in the dugout for the first time as the Super Eagles coach, with his opposite number, Adel Amrouche, also set to make his debut as head coach of the Amavubi.
Nigeria did not record a win in their previous four games in Group C, with the three-time African champions lying in fifth position, while Rwanda sits second in the standings.
The Super Eagles have also not beaten Rwanda in Kigali in their three previous meetings, but Chelle is confident his team is ready to secure the much-needed victory to kickstart their qualifying campaign.
““We are ready. They have a new coach, they want to win and we also want to win,” the 47-year-old said at his pre-match conference on Thursday.
“We must focus on our game, we have a great squad. We must work hard. What we do with the ball and off the ball will be important. We are focusing on our preparation and we will be ready.”

The Super Eagles will be in action again next Tuesday, with the Warriors of Zimbabwe visiting the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo in matchday six.
Chelle, however, has shut down any thoughts about the upcoming game, as the former Mali boss reiterated his focus is on their match against Rwanda on Friday at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
“I just want to be with my players,” he added. “I want my players to focus on this game and after that, we will see the other games. We need to win this game.”
