2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony set for September 22 in Paris

The 2025 Ballon d’Or award ceremony will take place on 22 September at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris, organisers announced on Monday.

The 69th edition of the prestigious event will see an equal number of awards handed out to both women and men for the first time.

France Football Magazine and UEFA revealed that the awards for best women’s goalkeeper, best young women’s player, and the women’s top scorer in a club or national team have been added to the list this year.

This means there will be six awards across both the men’s and women’s categories, while the Socrates Award, which is newly added, will honour a male or female player whose action promotes solidarity.

The organisers also revealed that the nominees for this year’s Ballon d’Or award will be announced in early August.

The voting system, however, remains unchanged, as 100 journalists will vote in the men’s category, while 50 get to vote in the women’s.

Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri is the current holder of the men’s award, while his compatriot and Barcelona midfielder Aitana Bonmati holds the women’s award.
