The Super Eagles, silver medallist at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), have been one of the best teams on the continent over the past year.
The three-time African champions, however, will face a tough battle for the award as they are up against reigning African champions Ivory Coast and AFCON 2023 bronze medallist, South Africa.
Nigeria’s Super Falcons, also made the final three shortlist for the National Team of the Year award in the women’s category.
The nine-time African champions face stern competition from Morocco’s Atlas Lionesses and the Banyana Banyana of South Africa.

Also up for grabs is the CAF Women’s Young Player of the Year award with Falconets forward Chiamaka Okwuchukwu nominated alongside Egypt’s Habiba Sabry and Doha El Madani of Morocco.
Okwuchukwu was instrumental for the Nigerian women’s under-20 team at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, where she scored two goals in four games before they were eliminated in the Round of 16 by Japan.
