Super Falcons goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie and Manchester United shot-stopper Andre Onana have made the final three-player shortlist for the Women’s and Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year at the 2024 CAF Awards respectively, Afrosport reports.
This edition of the CAF Awards, which cuts across the period from January to October 2024, is scheduled to be held at the prestigious Palais des Congres in Marrakech, Morocco, on Monday, 16 December.
Nnadozie had an outstanding year with Nigeria and Paris FC and will be looking to retain the award she won last year.
The 23-year-old, however, is up against two of Africa’s best shot-stoppers, as she will face competition from Morocco’s Khadija Er-Rmichi and Andile Dlamini of South Africa.

In the men’s category, Cameroon International Onana finished last season strong with United after a poor start. He has so far weathered the storm and has proven himself as one of the best goalies on the continent and in the world.
Onana will battle last year’s winner Ronwen Williams of South Africa and 2023 Africa Cup of Nations winner Yahia Fofana of Ivory Coast for the award.

Meanwhile, Ivorian AFCON 2023-winning coach Emerse Fae is among the finalists for the Men’s Coach of the Year award alongside Sebastien Desabre (DR Congo) and Hugo Broos (South Africa).
An exception was made in the women’s category as four nominees have been highlighted as finalists.
Lamia Boumehdi, who led TP Mazembe to a historic triumph at the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League, will jostle for three honours of the Women’s Coach of the Year against Ahmed Ramadan of FC Masar, AS FAR boss Mohamed Amine Alioua, and University of Western Cape’s Thinasonke Mbuli.
The winners of each category will be determined through votes from the CAF Technical Committee, media professionals, head coaches and captains of member associations, as well as clubs participating in the group stages of Interclub competitions.
